It was amazing, I love it. I was pretty sure I’d like it before, now I’m 100% positive that I do. Unlike Deadpool, the hype surrounding this car is accurate. <3

Test drove one last month, I was sold on it. Even in traffic, it was a blast. I plan on picking one up in May.

nope, was decent but not as good as everyone that talked about it said it was. The Fiesta ST on the other hand.... amazing.

Yeah, I drove it in traffic a little bit and also in an open area where I was able to have some fun abide by the speed limit. Both were great. Really is a great option for an everyday, usable driver’s car.

I do wish we got the 2 door as well. At least we get a little more power.

Honestly, personal opinion, I don’t mind that it’s a 5 door. I think the 3 door looks a little nicer maybe, but from a practicality standpoint the extra doors just make it easier. I guess I wish we had the option for the sake of the ones who want the 3 door, but I’d probably get the 5 door anyways.

I already have something practical though, so I wouldn’t need the 5 doors.

This might be on my short list to replace my Sonic Hatch. Is it really that great? I kinda felt like everyone’s bragging about it because everyone else is. I want to know how it drives. But im more concerned about its day to day usefulness ( I guess that's the father in me). It seems smaller than the Sonic.

oh ok. I was talking about this car as being the practical daily driver, not as a secondary vehicle.

Oh I know, and it would be my daily driver. But since it’s just me and a lunch box commuting, I don’t really need practicality lol.

I thought it was really that great. I know a lot of people have said it was great, and I figured it probably would be, but I had to see for myself. It definitely held up to my expectations, maybe even surpassed what I thought it would be. Can’t definitively comment on the exact size as compared to the Sonic, because they’re probably pretty close, but if I had to guess I’d say the Fiesta is a tad bigger, but not enough to be like “wow, look at all this extra space I have now after I switched from my Sonic!”
If you’re really looking for a similar replacement for your Sonic, I’d say you can’t go wrong by checking it out. Maybe you’ll like it, maybe you won’t, but it’s definitely worth the test drive to know for sure.

Ok cool....I’m glad I’m not the only one who thought Deadpool was overrated. It was entertaining and all, but I think my expectations were too high after reading a half-dozen articles on how it is such a “game changer.”
Also, the FiST is awesome. If I didn’t have two kids I may have bought one for myself.

Yea I was going to hold my reservations until I drove it. I’m definentley going to look at one. They are a steal used too. I’ve seen one with 16 thousand on the odo for 17k and only 2 years old.

Yeah, it’s not like Deadpool was a “bad” movie, it just wasn’t as good as everyone and the internet said it was.
And hey, that’s what the Focus RS or WRX is for, right? lol

Okay, I NEED to try one now.
The biggest issue I find with it is this

Seemingly it makes a better noise(Abarth), but it’s more expensive and isn’t as good at anything else. Also, they depreciate even worse.

Haha, yeah I highly recommend everyone try a Fiesta ST out. It nothing else it’s just fun.
And the Abarth is a neat car, it looks funky, sounds hilarious, and if you're looking at used examples, you can score a hell of a good deal on one. If I was seriously in the market I'd have to drive one of those as well to compare.

The noise accounts for most of my lust towards this.
The way I see it, I value noise more than perfect steering weighting or G’s on a corner since I can enjoy it most time.

I will say, the FiST sounded way better than I thought it would! In higher revs the stock exhaust actually really opened up and sounded pretty decent. I imagine an aftermarket system would do even more for it.

I’m not feeling the exhaust note on the ST hatches. Then again, VW’s sound unbelievably meh.

It’s definitely not as interesting as the Abarth, I won’t lie. But it really wasn’t a bad sound. I don’t think the Abarth sound can be topped as far as hot hatches go.

The Abarth is something else. I’ve only listened to one in person going less than 3k rpm and it was enough to hook me.

It is a laugh and a half to drive, but I found it so very harsh, combined with Ford manufacturing (though Made in Mexico Ford beats the crap out of Made in USA Ford) I think this will be the worst rattle box in no time, mainly why I didn’t buy it...
PushToStart
> Alex Zapata
03/20/2016 at 03:20 | 0 |
Hmmm... I'd say it was stiff but not harsh. And to be honest it's a total crapshoot trying to guess what's going to be rattley after 30,000 miles, little quality issues like that are almost impossible to predict in cars that aren't high tier luxury boats.

I kid you not, I hit the smallest of potholes in one of those, say about a cm down at most and the shock hit the stops at the top of the tower, that in my country is the sound of a lot of broken shocks and a lot of loose trim.
Also a lot of modern Fords seem to be rattleboxes, I drove a Focus with around 60000 kms (around maybe 40k miles) and it had a ton of rattles and a lot of trim that looked very worn for such low miles.

Hmmm, I didn’t feel that it was quite that stiff. Interesting.
Can't speak for long term quality though since the car I drove was basically new. I'm sure there are plenty of others here with FiSTs that can speak better on that subject, especially Brian Silvestro who IIRC did a cross country road trip pretty recently and has quite a few miles on his.

Would love to hear from someone who has a lot of miles on one.
Though might not appreciate hearing that it doesn’t have any problems, because that would mean I made a mistake not getting one lol.

Haha well there's quite a few Fiesta ST owners around here, I'm sure they'd be glad to tell you how bad of a mistake you might've made :)

42,300 miles in two years here in mine. Lots of rallycrosses and track days and autocrosses. The only notable squeak is the seat rail somehow made a squeak over bumps before I retightened the bolts. The techs told me to stop jumping it......I told them no.
Other than that, the stock suspension is wearing out a bit. But given how hard it gets pushed, that’s not a surprise. THe rear motor mount was a very necessary upgrade. Other than that, the only other quirk that’s otable is that gas mileage takes a nose dive as your oil fouls up. So when it’s time to change the oil you might struggle to break 32mpg highway. Good oil lets you do 40 if you’re gentle.

That sounds really amazingly cool, one of the perks of living in the US is having that kind of events anyone can go to I guess...
Still doesn’t come close to simulating how rough Mexico City roads are, but it’s an interesting reference nonetheless.

Unless mexico city roads are somehow worse than those that bend wheels on a daily basis, then there are plenty of USA roads that they can be compared to. :(

Oh trust me they are, I have never driven any road in the US that compares, I usually plan my routes according to road conditions, since the cars I use are quite delicate in that sense, but whenever I come across one of the more shocking ones I will take a pic.
On some roads here you can break your suspension going 10 mph.
